top 10 best restaurants in SF

I love food a lot. I love to try new things. Every weekend, I do some research online to see which restaurants have the best ratings, then I will try it with my friends. Luckly, most of the time I get excellent experiences. Last weekend I went to a Japanese restaurant called

Katana-Ya Ramen Restaurant in El Cerritto. The comment that people gave by Yelp.com was 4 stars--good food, good service and inexpensive. I ordered a pot of seafood and my friend ordered the dragon roll. When the orders came I was suprised. The pot of seafood was so interesting. It was so small! Normally when I have hotpot, it always come with a big pot, and that served at least 4 people. I have never had a one person hot pot dish. Later on, I was suprised again. That little pot had so much food inside and I couldn't finish it by myself. There were shrimps, clams, fishes, squids, crab meat and noodles. It can definitely feed two people. That was out of my expectation--very valuable. Moreover, the food presentation was so nice. With yelp.com, I can always get good experience on trying new restaurants.

Here are the top 10 list on yelp.com, which I am going to try next. Can't wait!!

  2. I LOVE trying new food! I don't have many hobbies, hell, I don't really have one at all. But if you call trying new food and new restaurants a hobby, then YES, I do have a hobby!

I'm also a very religious Yelp user. Yelp is responsible for most my new restaurant discoveries. Yelp is actually the most useful app on my iPhone -- especially when I'm traveling. If you're not familiar with an area and you're hungry, just yelp anything you're craving. Chances are, you won't be disappointed if you try any restaurants with more than 100 comments, and 3.5 stars or more.

This post actually wants to make me try Katana-Ya Ramen Restaurant you mentioned. I live in the East Bay and El Cerrito is on my way home!

  3. Woah, what a list. I've only been to House of Prime Rib, but I'll look into trying the other restaurants. I would recommend trying Santa Ramen in San Mateo, their ramen is really good. The lines at Santa Ramen are nuts at lunch, dinner would be a good choice and prices are same all day long.

  4. I know the Katana Ya ramen restaurant because it is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in El Cerrito. This restaurant has a lot of good food and the price of the dishes is always reasonable. My favorite dish is ''Spicy Ramen Set and it includes soft drink or coffee, salad, fried chicken wings and a big bowl of ramen. After the meal they will give you a small cup of Jello to become a perfect ending of the meal. If you like to eat Japanese food then you can't miss this good food and a good spot.

  5. My boyfriend and I have been to Sotto Mare a few times and he loves it. It's like his new favorite restaurant. Lately we have tried a lot of new places in North Beach and that is one of the best. Their food is really simple - the entrees are just fish and veggies - but really well done and very good portions. The staff their super nice too! Sotto Mare is must-try if you are into seafood!

  6. I am an avid food connoisseur. I make it a point to try a new restaurant every week. I've been to 3 out of the 10 that you listed. And out of those three, I think sotto mare holds true to its rank. House of prime rib and gary danko however is overrated. if you want steak, and is paying that much, i rather go to Ruth's Chris. their steak consistently blows my mind away. As for Gary Danko, you're paying for the experience..nothing more. The food is mediocre, with the exception of their roasted lobster (it's to die for.) With almost $150 per person, I say fly to vegas and check out Joel Robouchon...you will not leave with any regrets!

  7. I definitely love going out to try new places to eat! Ive actually tried Katana-Ya Ramen but in San Francisco. I decided to go there after a friend's recommendation which she found through yelp. I cant exactly remember what I got, but it was ramen and i thought it was okay. Maybe it was my choice or just a bad day.
I'll take a note of the top 10 list on yelp. Every time I use yelp, I look for the price and variety of food. I especially like using yelp find those small hidden treasure spots to enjoy food.

Some restaurants that i have been to have pretty solid reviews on Yelp but when i get there I think the food is absolutely terrible! Maybe its just me? I think not. But this post is going to a great help! Im excited to try these restaurants and get back to you about how my experience was! :)
